Unlocking the Potential of AI in Healthcare: Prioritizing Patient Safety and Data Security 🛡️💉 #healthtech #aiinhealthcare #patientsafety Advances in #artificialintelligence happen every day. But there are real people behind the innovation working together for better outcomes. When healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs) and healthcare technology providers use AI, they should ensure patient care and data protection remain top priorities. So they need a deep understanding of AI-driven systems and their ability to improve patient outcomes and maintain compliance. Most HDOs aren’t looking for magic — they just want to ensure patient safety. To this end, they should ask five key questions of technology providers that build AI systems for healthcare settings: How do AI systems use patient data? Compliance must come first. Who owns the data? Ultimately, HDOs need control over sensitive patient data, or at least strong assurance that it is ultra-secure. What are the built-in guardrails and parameters? User direction over AI is critical. How are the data biased? Data always contains bias by nature, but AI developers can mitigate bias as much as possible. How will clinicians know if AI bots are watching and collecting data? Users should be able to identify whether their AI is working correctly.
