LONE STAR COMMUNICATIONS COMPLETES STRATEGIC ACQUISITION TO ADDRESS ALARM FATIGUE AND REDUCE RISK IN HOSPITALS

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (August 7, 2022) – Lone Star Communications (LSC) is pleased to welcome CareSight, LLC to the Lone Star portfolio. Effective immediately, CareSight, LLC will operate as a majority-owned Division of Lone Star Communications Companies.

Nursing and clinical teams experience hundreds of alarms, alerts, and notifications on every shift, causing alarm fatigue. The impacts of alarm fatigue affect both patient experience and safety, as well as increasing the level of stress and interruption across the care team.

CareSight brings a powerful Software-as-a-Service offering, backed by a team of clinical workflow and data science specialists. It has delivered clinical and operational insights for customers like Northwell Health, MedStar Health, Yale New Haven Health, and the University of Chicago Medical Center since 2016.

These customers receive tailored dashboards and reports that help nursing professionals adjust rounding and coverage, as well as uncover staff performance issue. In their management ranks, Quality Officers and Nursing Leaders use the portal to identify opportunities for improved safety and patient satisfaction and model potential changes before implementation.

“We automatically deliver data that is specifically organized to support specific roles or quality and operational initiatives,” says CareSight’s founder, Kenny Schiff. “Our expertise in data extraction and correlation, or as we call it, “smooshing” quickly delivers a comprehensive, multi-source view of the alarm activity in your environment. Hospitals have the information they need to confidently execute data-driven improvements.”

With this acquisition, Lone Star is now positioned to address alarm management issues in hospitals across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Mississippi, and beyond.

According to Donna Montgomery, the Chief Clinical Informatics Officer for Lone Star, “The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced how essential data-driven decision-making is to our hospital customers. CareSight supercharges our ability to unlock hidden insights from nurse call, patient monitoring, infant security, RTLS, mobile communications, patient engagement, MDI, and middleware platforms.” The insights in the data are quickly turned into intuitive visualizations that enable decision making by bedside nurses as well as nurse executives.

“I am excited about the powerful synergies we are creating. This is an incredible combination in the making. The strength of Lone Star combined with visionary agility,” says Ray Bailey, Lone Star Founder, and President.
