Lone Superstar - Adriana Carbajal

Adriana joined the Lone Star family September 20th, 2021, as a much-needed Service Assistant. During her interview we were impressed by her mindset and the work life experience gained during her short years in the workforce. But most of all, we all appreciated a brief comment made depicting her care for her parents and siblings.

Throughout the last 17 months, we learned that as a young lady, she stepped up and took up some responsibilities within the core of her family, became a pillar for her mom, and a strong advocate for her siblings. Care, support, and genuine concern for others are some of the most important qualities at a department that concentrates on supporting clients and handles clients’ needs with utmost dedication.

Adriana was born in Chicago, Illinois but as a toddler her family relocated to Georgetown where she was raised and where she graduated from Georgetown High School.

I had the opportunity to chat with Adriana for a few minutes and ask a few questions. Here is a bit of the informal “interview”:

Q: Tell me a little about first job:

A: I got hired as a Cake decorator at Walmart but I was not good at all at decorating them! Did my best and quickly learned my artistic talent was limited!

Q: Favorite people in your life?

A: My mom. She’s my best friend, confidant, role model, and best cook ever!! I have 2 nephews. Iker 2 and Christopher 3. They are a handful, and both think they run my life!

My sisters and brother.

Q: Kids of your own?

A: God no!!! My sister taught me that lesson. My nephews are enough for now.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: My baby Chuy! (Really?? Baby?? Chuy is an 75 pound strong as an ox “pup”!)

Q: Prior to Lone Star, what was your favorite job?

A: Probably Wriggley’s Pub. I still cover a couple of shifts on weekends. (Wrigley’s is a Pub in Sun City. A retirement community in Georgetown). I really enjoy the environment, pretty cool and fun older crowd.

Q: What about hobbies, do you have any?

A: Not really. I do enjoy going on an occasional hike with Chuy and my older sister.

(I chucked at this. Several months ago, Adriana shared a story about “pup” Chuy dragging her for several feet through the concrete walkway and onto dry grass and sticks while chasing a squirrel! All while on a hike near the Georgetown Lake. Her mom became somewhat hysterical when she got home thinking she had an accident!)

Q: Favorite author or TV show:

A: Just finished reading Ugly Love by Coleen Hoover. She is one of my favorite authors. My favorite sitcom is That ‘70s Show. Maybe Friends as well.

Q: Favorite food:

A: Italian. But nothing better than a good restaurant in Mexico. Authentic Mexican food!!

Q: What is your favorite pastime?

A: Spending time with family and friends. I enjoy hanging out with my mom, sisters, nephews, brother, and friends. Never a dull moment. My brother is currently stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. Don’t get to see him too often, but we enjoy being with him as much as we can. One my best friends is now a part of the Lone Star family as well!! (Lupita recently joined LSCT Accounting team)

Q: If you could send a short message to the entire world, what would you say?

A: Be nice! Be nicer to each other, appreciate each other, and respect each other’s differences.

Q: How do you like working at Lone Star?

A: Favorite job out of all the jobs I’ve ever had! I am surrounded by people I truly like, respect, and love. I learn something new every day and love working with our clients and coworkers.

Adriana moved from Service Assistant to Dispatcher and was recently promoted to Service Coordinator. She is dependable and smart and has certainly proven to be an excellent and dependable person. She is currently working on assuming more responsibilities and tasks and growing her knowledge in service and customer relations. Sky is the limit!

Closing note: Adriana was recently on a short vacation. One of our clients noticed a reply from a request coming from me rather than Adriana and asked where Adriana was. I let her know she was on vacation and immediately replied “I miss my friend… And I know y’all miss her too! 😉” She has indeed become an integral element in our business!

We are very proud and happy to have her in our team and in our work life!
